Pondi 6
Daily life in Pondicherry….
Every morning, it’s the same ritual, one of the cements of social life. Like everywhere in India, it’s time for spiced milk tea.
We sit where we can, we greet each other as a regular, we discuss or not and we watch the street shows.

Tonight is July 14, the storming of the Bastille, which is celebrated in Pondicherry.
Organized by the French Consulate, the old lighthouse was decorated and a parade was organised.

And the inevitable fireworks
Every evening I return to the apartment. Either after a walk or after a few games of pétanque.
I go along the sea with my scooter: End of the beach, fishing boat… The temple in front of my apartment

Well, I’ve been practicing yoga and Pranayama with Lalit for several months now. This morning, he decided to make me a video…
Lalit has a YouTube channel: YOGA WITH LALIT SAMDARIYA
It’s the end of October and this week is special in the fishing village. The priest of the St Francis of Assisi church organizes a procession every evening. The village church is the oldest in Pondicherry, the first to convert were fishermen.
I often play pétanque with them in the evening. When the procession begins, everyone stops playing, Hindus and Christians.

The fishing village of Pondicherry. The children play as we could play in France in the 1960s…
Today, in many countries, including France, children discover the world with their smartphones and they get depressed.
Here, it’s like 50-60 years ago in France, children play, experiment and marvel.
